Sparafucile

Rigoletto has been cursed by Monterone for taunting him over the defiling of his. Later in the street he meets a mysterious man, who offers his services as a killer. Rigoletto is curious about the method for a “signor”. Perhaps the killer’s sister can entice him to their lair, but the price is more than for a lesser man. When Rigoletto needs him, “Sparafucile” will be waiting outside.

An excellent duet for two low voices, lasting 4 minutes. Sparafucile is calm and mysterious (low F to high Eb), and Rigoletto is both dismissive and curious (C to high Eb).
