This piece is for the role/s : Gilda Rigoletto
|
Rigoletto arrives at Sparafucile's inn to receive the Duke's body. But he hears the Duke's voice, and tearing open the sack, is horrified to discover Gilda dying of a stab wound. She tells him that she dies for the man she loves, and that she will soon be near her mother in heaven. Rigoletto can only beg her not to leave him alone in the world. Finally Monterone's curse has come true.
An effective and moving duet, Gilda's phrases are punctuated with rests (Db to high Bb), Rigoletto's writing sits high (Bb to F, with a possible high Bbb). The duet lasts 6˝ minutes.
