SARAH FOX was educated at Giggleswick School, read Music at London University & studied at the Royal College of Music with Margaret Kingsley. She won the Kathleen Ferrier Award in 1997 and the Christie award from Glyndebourne in 2000.
She has performed extensively both here and abroad with many of the world’s leading orchestras including the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Orchestra of the Age of the Enlightenment, the CBSO and the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra.
Recent performances include Poulenc’s Gloria and Mahler’s 4th Symphony with the Philharmonia under Mackerras. She has performed at the BBC Proms and at the Edinburgh Festival including Handel’s Jephtha, Silete Venti and Poro, Honegger’s Jeanne d’Arc au bûcher and Strauss’ Capriccio.
Her operatic roles have included Susanna Le nozze di Figaro; Marzelline Fidelio; and Miss Wordsworth Albert Herring for Glyndebourne; Zerlina Don Giovanni for Glyndebourne and Cincinnati Opera; Servilia La Clemenza di Tito for WNO, Ilia Idomeneo for Vlaamse Opera and Michal Saul for Bayerische Staats Oper.
Current operatic engagements include Woglinde and the Woodbird in the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden’s new production of Der Ring des Niebelungen under Pappano and also the new production for Aix-en-Provence and Salzburg Festivals under Rattle; and Zerlina also for the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
