LORNA COLLINS, a Royal Philharmonic Society Young Artist and 2006 Susan Chilcott Scholar, was born in Taplow, Berkshire and now lives in Lindfield with her six year old son Nathaniel.

She began her musical career in 1995on the ENO Performance Course directed by Mary King where she took part in improvised projects commissioned by the Contemporary Opera Studio. The following year she then went on to Birkbeck in conjunction with Abbey Opera Training. Following a Postgraduate degree at Trinity College of music, she has since returned to ENO last year as a student on their new course “Opera Works” professional training programme. This culminated in a showcase performance at Saddlers Wells theatre in May 2008.

Lorna was awarded a Susan Chilcott Scholarship in 2006. In 2007 she took part in the Jose Cura Opera Project, a 3 day intensive workshop in London culminating in a master class and concert for New Devon Opera. She will be returning to Devon this year and is to take part in a masterclass at the Royal Academy of Music this September.

Her concert work includes performing “Lieder Eines Fahrenden Gesellen” with the Wren Ensemble and “Sea Pictures” with the Wandsworth Symphony Orchestra. She is a soloist for Tiger Arts in Lindfield, regularly giving recitals for charitable events.

Oratorio work includes: Verdi “Requiem”, Bach “St John’s Passion”, Dvorak “Mass in D”, and Haydn “Theresa Mass” with East Grinstead Choral Society.

Lorna’s college roles include: Hermia “Midsummers Night Dream”, Octavia “Poppea”, Didimus “Theodora”, Sextus “Clemanza di Tito”,s Infermiera “La Suor Angelica”, Albert’s Mother “Albert Herring” and Cinderella “Into the Woods”. Professional roles – Suzuki with Opera Brava 2006/7.

Lorna is currently studying with Yvonne Minton.
