JULIA CRAIG is a young soprano who recently graduated from The Royal College of Music, where she gained 1st class honours in her BMus degree and went on to complete a Postgraduate Diploma.

Since leaving college she has been much in demand as a session singer. She has twice appeared with London Voices at the BBC Proms, as well as making recordings for such artists as Renée Fleming and Sir Paul McCartney, and appearing on the soundtrack to the recent Star Wars films.

She embraces a variety of styles musically, and is also experienced in music theatre and pop genres, having performed as part of a cabaret show and as a backing singer for pop bands. A recent collaboration with the up-and-coming video artists Allsopp and Weir was very successful, and required her to sing in Arabic. Further projects are planned over the next year.

Julia’s choral experience has ensured her regular work in churches in and around London, as a soloist and part of a quartet or octet. Solo experience includes Mozart Requiem, Bach St Matthew and St John Passions, Faure Requiem, Handel Messiah and Pergolesi Stabat Mater.

She is also experienced at singing contemporary pieces, including works by Robin Holloway, Dallapiccola and Berio, and has given the world premiere of several songs by composer Luke Bedford, winner of the Royal Philharmonic Society prize in 2000.

Her operatic experience includes roles such as Blanche Dialogue of the Carmelites, Barbarina, Susanna, Poppea and she has sung regularly at Opera Holland Park.

Future plans include performances of Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Exsultate Jubilate with the Salisbury Sinfonia, and more session work.
