HARRY FEHR read Philosophy at the University of Nottingham and studied for a postgraduate diploma in theatre directing at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.
Most recently he has directed Hansel und Gretel and L'elisir d'amore for Eastern Opera and an evening of opera scenes for Morley College. He has also assisted on productions by directors such as Katie Mitchell, David McVicar, Jonathan Miller, Tim Albery, Elijah Moshinsky and Moshe Leiser and Patrice Caurier for companies including English National Opera, Scottish Opera and Opera North and the Edinburgh International Festival. He first worked for The Royal Opera as Assistant Director on the 2003 revival of Madama Butterfly.
He joined the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme in September 2005 and directed a production of Schubert Die schöne Müllerin in the Linbury as part of Meet the Young Artists Week in October 2005 and the concert staging of the 2006 Summer Concert. He also assisted the directors of the Royal Opera productions of Maskarade, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Macbeth, Il re pastore and Duke Bluebeard's Castle/Erwartung.
In the 2006/07 season, he has directed a production of La serva padrona in the Linbury as part of Meet the Young Artists Week and he will create the concert staging of the Summer Concert in July 2007. He has also assisted the directors of La finta giardiniera, La Fille du regiment, Il trovatore, The Tempest and Káta Kabanová.
Plans after leaving the Programme including directing La Cenerentola for Scottish Opera Go Round.
