Originally from Australia, DAVID BARNARD studied at the Flinders Street School of Music (Adelaide) with Diana Harris. At the age of 18, he graduated with a Bachelor of Music (Performance) and an Advanced Diploma of Music (Accompanying). David was recognised nationally for his outstanding achievements during study and for being the youngest B.Mus graduate in Australia.

Whilst studying in Australia, he had a busy and varied career as a soloist and chamber musician; performing in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Hobart and Brisbane. David also began his career in opera when at 18, he was appointed chief répétiteur and continuo player for the State Opera of South Australia, for conductor Peter Robinson.

David returned to his family roots to further his career and he is now working widely throughout the UK and Europe as a soloist, chamber musician and accompanist. He has collaborated with: Nicholas Braithwaite, John Owen-Edwards, Fraser Goulding, Martin Merry, Stephen Barlow, Paul McCreesh, Kent Nagano, Yvonne Kenny, Gillian Sullivan, Manchester Concert Orchestra, London Concert Orchestra (Raymond Gubbay Ltd), The Lost Chord Project (South Yorkshire), English Touring Opera and the BBC Symphony Orchestra.

In addition to this, he has also spent considerable time alongside teachers and children of all ages in Sheffield schools, providing opportunities for children to hear or be involved in live music. David is a part of the Live Music Now scheme, and involved in the Britten-Pears Young Artists Programme.
