ANNETTE DUMVILLE studied music at Dartington College of Arts and Nottingham University. She continued studying singing privately and now works with a number of opera companies in and around London.

Her operatic roles include the title role in Carmen, Florence Pike (Albert Herring), Frugola, La Principessa and Zita (Il Trittico), Ottone (The Coronation of Poppea), Mrs Kneebone (The Dinner Engagement), Mistress Quickly (Falstaff), Mama Lucia (Cavalleria Rusticana), Public Opinion (Orpheus in the Underworld) and the title role in The Widow of Ephesus performed under the direction of the composer. She made her Purcell Room debut last year singing and dancing a steamy tango in the folk opera “Kinneret”.

Most recent performances have included Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus), Mrs McLean in Carlisle Floyd’s “Susannah”, Mrs Peachum (Beggar’s Opera) and Marcellina (The Marriage of Figaro). Plans for 2003 include Suzuki (Madam Butterfly) at the Lyric Hammersmith and the Minack Theatre Cornwall, Annio (La Clemenza di Tito) and Filipyevna (Eugene Onegin).

Annette is also an experienced oratorio soloist having sung the Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem and Vespers, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, Bach’s St John and St Matthew Passions, Rachmaninof’s Vespers and most recently Bach’s Mass in B Minor and Mendelssohn’s Elijah.
