With an extensive repertoire, excellent core of experienced performers and an infectious sense of theatrical fun, HATSTAND OPERA are uniquely equipped to bring the best of the world of opera to any venue.

Hatstand Opera was formed to bring opera to new venues and audiences across the UK and beyond. Golden Moments from Opera, our flagship blend of popular arias and comic scenes, plus a generous helping of well-known items, has been touring for over ten years across the UK to packed audiences in village halls, castles, National Trust properties, art galleries and theatres alike. With a �go-anywhere� policy, Hatstand have sung at the Liberation Celebrations in Guernsey, at Belton House with the City of London Sinfonia for 7000 people in the open air, for conference dinners, Christmas concerts and charity galas from Aberystwyth to Wick, the Barbican Centre, even in a vineyard in Western Australia!

Our expanding education work includes workshops for ages 5 upwards, culminating in either a showing of work or fully staged public performances with Hatstand Opera.

Hatstand Opera are a proud member of the only professional opera body in the UK, the Opera and Music Theatre Forum.

Hatstand soloists are highly experienced performers, with a special skill in performing close-up to any audience. Our singers perform with most of the UK companies and many more beyond, but they return to work with Hatstand when they can - because they love it!

AUDITION POLICY: Hatstand Opera audition by invitation only. Remember, we specialise in opera highlights shows, so we do not have roles to offer. We often work in intimate, non-theatre spaces, travel miles to get there, and don't always even sing on a stage. You will be expected to learn all music beforehand, perform with minimal rehearsal, and enjoy singing with excellent piano accompaniment. In return, our performers are terrific professionals who are great to work with, and our audiences are enthusiastic, loyal, and very, very appreciative. Ideally, you should also be a car owner/driver.

If you are a tenor or a baritone (sorry, ladies and basses!) please email a list of the top ten opera excerpts (NOT arias) that you could sing if I called you tomorrow, along with your cv.

Please don't list excerpts from operas/roles you've got listed on your cv - I assume that if you've sung the role you know all the music; arias, ensembles, recits.
